Michael Christopher Aynardi, M.D.
Michael Aynardi, M.D. is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in ankle, foot, and lower extremity deformity. He earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University where he was an Academic All-American varsity football player. He obtained his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College graduating 2nd in his class. Following graduation, Dr. Aynardi completed his orthopaedic residency at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. Following residency, he completed a fellowship subspecializing in ankle and foot at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Aynardi specializes in cartilage restoration, athletic injuries, deformity correction, limb salvage of the mangled lower extremity, total ankle replacement, bunion correction, ankle and foot reconstruction and fusion, flatfoot correction, Charcot reconstruction, diabetic foot deformity, lower limb fracture care, lower limb trauma, and Achilles injuries.
Dr. Aynardi is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the American Orthopaedic Association. He serves on faculty at Pennsylvania State University. He is currently the assistant director for the ankle and foot fellowship. In addition, Dr. Aynardi serves on the AOFAS Research and Fellowship Committees as well as a reviewer for the orthopaedic journals Foot and Ankle International and Foot and Ankle Orthopaedics.
Dr. Aynardi is actively involved in research and has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and presentations at the national level. He is currently engaged in several funded research grants at his university studying the biomechanics of flatfoot reconstruction and the pathophysiology of diabetic induced Charcot neuroarthropathy.
